More scattered inspiration

Our wedding will not look like this, but isn't it pretty?
There will be no assigned seating at our wedding

Aww isn't that cute, if only it were true. We've got our keg choices down, there will be 4 kegs, plenty of variety.

Gorgeous dress and a great picture

Weddington Way is always on ruffledblog.com but these dresses are way expensive

Old postcard of St. Joe's Church... it doesn't have all that seating anymore ;)

Playing with the idea of braids in my hair for wedding hair, not quite decided.

I did, however, teach myself how to braid a 5 strand braid

bird cage veil.. probably won't be seen at our wedding either.

This is a little over the top with the lighting, but we do like the idea of some dramatic lighting in the church

Sewing my dress has proved to not be too much of challenge for me to handle. Maybe I'll embroider myself a little note too.

Making Planning Doing

Slowly working on making my wedding dress, I made one piece forever ago and worked on another part today. I'm hoping it comes together like I see it in my head.

In other news we're changing and expanding our ideas about dates and venues. We're pretty psyched on July 3rd (yeah I know, it's a Tuesday) but we have our reasons. We're also thinking about an abandoned church in downtown Albany that we've been to a few art shows in as a venue. Still going to apply to parks, need to call them back.

We have time... *gulp* right?

super cute wine bottle label!

This wedding is amazingly handmade

I don't know if I'll go that far, sewing all the bridesmaid dresses definitely not... but it's inspiring that this woman did so much to put her wedding together.

Bridesmaid Dresses

I've already expressed to my bridesmaids that I want their dress to be their choice. I don't want matching bridesmaids in the same stupid looking dress. But I do think I'll have to have them all be in one color family or just ask for pictures before purchase so everyone is in a different colored dress. The dresses above are a cute idea but a little too themed for my taste.

These are a nice assortment of purples

Another nice assortment of semi-matchy styles... this super posed picture on the other hand......

Totally hipster. Little bit white trash.

Cute bright colored dresses :)

Beehive doos and simple dresses with different colored tights.

So yeah I guess my initial thoughts are knee length, purples and yellows or off whites, comfortable dresses...

Dress Ideas Forming

The vintage style is cute. But I think I may be leaning away from it. I do like the poofy skirts and tea length dresses, those might be the only aspects I take away from the genre.

I absolutely love the front of this dress. Done by an etsy designer.

This is a similar style but with a different front, pretty classic and it has pockets :)

I've always been a big fan of interesting backs on dresses. And one aspect of wedding dresses I do like are those cloth covered buttons down the backs of dresses

The rest of the bottom of that dress is a little weird, most mermaid dresses are.

This is a cute vintage dress from etsy. Similar to the layers of lace in the dress above, but maybe a little too stiff to move around in.

Love the flowy feeling dresses, perfect for summer.

classic and warmly lit

short dress, long veil... but I'm not that into veils.

Just some ideas I'm tossing around in my head. I have a feeling I want to make my own version of the etsy designer dress, with the open front and maybe a lower back with a flowy organza skirt.

Dress?

Okay so for my "engagement party" I wore this lovely little dress that I have been planning all along to be my wedding dress, I was going to add some ivory and lavender skirts of tulle so it's a little less scandalous and a little more wedding dress.

But now I'm thinking I need an entirely different dress like some kind of real wedding dress. The problem with that being that I am not a fan of wedding dresses for the most part. I don't even know what style I would lean towards.

Most dresses bore me and look all the same. And they are all soooo expensive!!! It would be great to find a nice used one, vintage or otherwise. I do like shorter dresses, probably because I'm short and don't want to alter a dress I'm going to be swimming in. Actually that's why I wanted to make my own and add skirts, because I could change the length whenever I wanted, I could have it coming down to the floor for the wedding and take off a few layers for a knee length skirt for the reception.

I'm also considering getting a few different vintage dresses and mish mashing them together, but I don't know if I totally have the sewing skills for that. Hmmm. So much to think about.
