Homegrown

I'd love to have a wedding where everything is sourced locally and made with love and care. Like this Virginia wedding.I definitely want my bouquet to be grown by my mom. And maybe I could try my hand at growing flowers. I keep thinking of ideas that would be so much work! Like making all the food myself (with help from guests, family and friends). I tried to simplify it, like just grill/roast a whole bunch of veggies like potatoes, peppers and onions and have a salad... probably spinach because that's as close as it will be to a salad Rod might eat... and pizza!

Would oven roasted pizza be an awesome wedding meal? I don't think I've seen it anywhere. But it would probably be a little difficult to make that many pies in a small oven.

Engaged!!!

Rod and I have been talking about getting married for a while, however I was still very surprised when he proposed to me on my birthday (June 14th). I hadn't had the best day and was just looking forward to spending my evening with him. When I open the door to the apartment I saw that he had wrapped up a bicycle and it was in the middle of our living room. It was mostly wrapped in some fabric I had lying around, and it was obvious that the one roll of gold wrapping paper had not done the job. I was already touched and he told me to read the card first. It was an audio card with Phil from Modern Family on the cover:Not that exact picture but an equally geeky one. It read "Another birthday and you're still cool" and the inside audio was a quote of Phil trying to be cool and hip. I laughed and read the message inside, along the lines of hoping this birthday will never be forgotten. And when I turned around to thank Rod for the sweet card I saw him with a ring box in his hand, starting to kneel. He asked me "will you ask me to marry you?" which didn't even hit me because I was already saying yes to "will you marry me" and I knelt down and hugged him and was crying and he pointed out he'd asked that way because in the ring box was his engagement ring, a Brazilian tradition. My ring is on its way... they don't make many non-diamond engagement rings for children (I have very tiny hands).

So that's the awesome story of my love proposing to me. :D and now this blog is to make every part of the wedding as awesome as that proposal. For our friends and family to have a great time and celebrate with us!!

When we first started talking about this I looked into some things that would make our wedding great. I really like this cake topper from etsy seller illustrated ink

It may be a little too much but it's certainly different and cute.
